Embracing Ramadan at Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha in a Grand Iftar with EduScan 7th June, 2018
The true spirit of the Holy month of Ramadan was celebrated through Holiday Inn Dubai’s initiative ‘Embracing Ramadan’ yesterday, when determined children with learning difficulties, communication impairment and social issues, of EduScan Institute were hosted with dignitaries from society at The Gem Garden.
The event began with Quran recitation and Qasida rendered by staff of different religions, cultures and beliefs, unitedly praying in praise of Allah, as a pre-cursor to a grand Iftar.
The breaking of fast was followed by the determined special children presenting a ‘Walk of Confidence’. It was easily overlooked that these beautiful children in their pretty dresses, creative ways and innocent demeanor, lacked communication, perception and memory which lead to Academic challenges.
The ramp walk was not only a creative outlet for these kids but a platform to boost their self-esteem, giving them an opportunity to be center stage in a fun and purposeful way. The audience witnessed EduScan’s philosophy, that if children focused on their strengths, greater potency to fade challenges is achieved. Indeed the children
moved to the rhythm in amazing coordination, despite their limitations
The event was further graced by the arrival of HH Sheikha Hend Faisal Al Qassemi, a committed philanthropist, an accomplished entrepreneur, an author, and an artist.

“The doors of goodness are many…enjoining good, listening to the deaf, leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying to help in sorrow, and supporting the feeble with the strength of the one’s arms – ‘ all these are charity prescribed for you. Indeed, your smile for your brother is charity.”
She further gave a salutation to both Her Highness Sheikha Hend Faisal Al Qassemi, the guest of honor and Her Excellency, Samata Gifty Bukari, Consul General of the Republic of Ghana Dubai – UAE and Determined Children from Eduscan Institute.

She continued by acknowledging that how compassionate and keen Her Highness is to support civil society, following steps of the founding father of the UAE, HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayhan, whose centenary we are celebrating this year and who promoted tolerance and charity as being key values one should uphold.
She further added that year after year, in this holy month, HIAB ensures that people less better off than those in the mainstream or children with special needs are given the opportunity to succeed, and that they are not excluded for what some of us might see as differences. Feeling a sense of belonging and connection, and of being valued, would surely make a positive difference in their lives.
Ms. Roxana mentioned that while HIAB hopes that this evening’s Iftaar will be a memory for the children, it will be another step in the learning of the hotel’s 300 staff of 25 nationalities, which drive ‘Holiday Inn Loves You Campaign’, giving of them voluntarily, whilst hailing from 25 nationalities, customs and cultures to become socially responsible.
